Sales Tax / VAT / GST Calculator

Estimate tax-inclusive or tax-exclusive amounts using a rate you have checked from an official source. This page is generated at build time and does not collect or store IDs or calculator inputs.

Independent estimate and input privacy

Scope boundary: these tools do not verify bank accounts, IBAN, BIC/SWIFT, SEPA eligibility, payout timing, or bank-transfer charges.

This calculator provides planning estimates only and is not tax, legal, or accounting advice. VAT rules vary by country and business status. Confirm the rate and treatment with the official tax authority or a qualified adviser. The calculator does not know registration status, marketplace collection rules, exemptions, thresholds, filing rules, or local tax law.

Default display currency is USD for examples only. Entering 0.00% as a rate does not mean this site has verified that rate for your sale.

Standard tax-rate references

These references never populate the calculator automatically. They are a starting point for checking a standard national or federal rate, not a claim that the rate applies to a particular product, buyer, seller, registration, or marketplace sale.

Official authority pages were manually reviewed on 2026-08-04. Confirm the current rule and enter the applicable rate yourself before using the estimate.

Use a checked tax rate, not an assumed rate

This calculator separates tax-exclusive and tax-inclusive amounts after you enter a rate you already checked from an official source, seller dashboard, invoice, or qualified professional. It does not decide which rate applies to your product, buyer, seller location, or registration status.

Tax-exclusive formula

tax amount = net amount x tax rate

gross amount = net amount + tax amount

Tax-inclusive formula

net amount = gross amount / (1 + tax rate)

tax amount = gross amount - net amount

Seller fee vs tax amount

Platform fees and tax amounts are different concepts. A marketplace or payment processor fee reduces the amount you receive, while a VAT/GST/sales-tax amount may be collected, remitted, or handled by a marketplace depending on official rules. Keep fee planning separate from tax compliance decisions.

Examples using user-entered rates

Example only: 5% on 100.00 gives 5.00 tax and 105.00 gross.

Example only: 10% on 100.00 gives 10.00 tax and 110.00 gross.

Example only: 20% on 100.00 gives 20.00 tax and 120.00 gross.

These examples do not claim that 5%, 10%, or 20% is the correct official rate for any country, product, seller, or buyer.

What this calculator does not verify

  • Registration status.
  • Product exemptions.
  • Marketplace collection rules.
  • Jurisdiction, state, province, or local differences.
  • Reverse charge, import, or export rules.
  • Filing requirements.
What this calculator does

This calculator separates net amount, Sales Tax amount, and gross amount. It does not choose a tax rate for you. Enter only a rate you have checked for your sale, jurisdiction, product type, and seller status.

When to use this tax calculator
  • Separate net amount, Sales Tax amount, and gross amount.
  • Check tax-inclusive versus tax-exclusive pricing with a rate you already verified.
  • Model a rate from an official tax authority, seller dashboard, invoice, or qualified professional.
What this calculator does not do
  • It does not choose or verify your tax rate.
  • It does not verify VAT, GST, HST, PST, QST, or sales tax registration.
  • It does not replace tax filing, accounting advice, legal advice, or official tax authority guidance.
  • It does not check IBAN, BIC/SWIFT, SEPA eligibility, bank account reachability, payout timing, or bank transfer fees.
Manual tax-rate assumptions
  • This page does not choose a Sales Tax, VAT, GST, HST, PST, QST, or local tax rate for you.
  • Enter only a rate you have checked from an official tax authority, seller dashboard, invoice, or qualified professional.
  • Default examples may display USD, but the calculator does not verify any country, state, province, product, seller, buyer, registration, or marketplace-collection rule.
  • No IDs or calculator inputs are sent to a server or analytics.
  • No site-maintained tax rates are supplied by default.
Source status

Manual-rate mode. No site-maintained Sales Tax, VAT, or GST rate is supplied by this calculator, and no rate is inserted automatically.

Custom rate explanation

The rate field is for a value you have checked yourself. Inputs stay in browser state only and should not include VAT IDs, TINs, or personal information.

Example calculation

For a USD 100.00 sale, enter your checked tax rate and choose whether 100.00 is tax-exclusive or tax-inclusive. The calculator then shows net, tax, and gross amounts using decimal-safe arithmetic.

Tax-inclusive vs tax-exclusive calculation

Tax-exclusive: tax amount = net amount x tax rate. Gross amount = net amount + tax amount.

Tax-inclusive: net amount = gross amount / (1 + tax rate). Tax amount = gross amount - net amount.

Example using a rate you entered

If you enter a checked rate of 20% and a net amount of USD 100.00, the math example shows USD 20.00 tax and USD 120.00 gross.

This does not mean this site verified 20% as the correct rate for your sale.

Common mistakes
  • Using a country-wide rate without checking product, jurisdiction, or marketplace rules.
  • Treating marketplace-collected tax as seller income.
  • Mixing platform fees and tax amounts in the same line item.
  • Using this calculator for tax filing instead of planning.
